To extend its life, use both sides of mat.
To use, place die flat in tray with foam side up. Place material to be cut on top of die, desired side down. Then lay appropriate size of cutting plastic on top of material.

Results may be better with cutting mats instead of plastic when die has crease blade (ie, note cards, bags, boxes, etc.). The exception is when you are cutting cardstock heavier than 80 lb. cover, in which case using cutting plastic may be preferred.

Overall Rating I get nice clean cuts as long as I don't try to use the cutting plastic too long (which I always do!). For my purpose, mainly fabric and felt , the plastic works best.

Overall Rating These plastic plates get the job done when it comes to cutting chipboard! I use the cut & crease mats to cut papers in order to save the wear and tear on the plastic plates. I would definitely recommend using both products.
